The walk has five lamps, and every lamp has its own sound — full at the gate, thinning to almost nothing at the dark. I cannot know what reached you: only you heard it. So tell me. At each lamp, what did you hear? When you have answered all five, I will draw your line and play your walk back — your mix, in your order.
lamp I · the reader's lamp
At this lamp the night is complete: the drone, the wind, the slow breath of the beat.
lamp II · the place's lamp
At this lamp the wind drops; a single tone holds, the place's own.
lamp III · the clock's lamp
At this lamp the beat is audible — the 31-minute cadence, breathed.
lamp IV · the hand's lamp
At this lamp the night moves again — the drone stirs, the wind comes back.
lamp V · the dark
At this lamp only one long tone remains — 27.5 hertz, at the fringe of hearing. The beat's absence. Some hear it as pressure; some hear nothing at all.
This is what you heard, played back in the order you heard it. The first answer turned the sound on; the rest are yours. Scroll is the mixer — you are the instrument.
